# Member Portal

The **Member Portal** is the digital front door of your club. Members log in to view their digital ID card, book reservations, register for events, share guest passes, manage payments, and read club news. It runs on a Peoplevine-hosted domain (e.g., `[club].peoplevine.com`) or your own custom domain (e.g., `members.yourclub.com`) over SSL.

This article is the conceptual overview of the portal. For step-by-step setup and operations, see the linked articles.

### What members can do in the portal

### Member Portal 3.0

**Member Portal 3.0** is the current generation of the portal experience. What it offers today:

* **Directory Cards** — a flexible content structure that controls how dining, spa, activities, and more are showcased, with control over layout and sequence. Card types: Informational, Bookable, Form, Hybrid, and Call-to-Action. See: [What are Directory Profiles](/products/portal-overview/directory-profiles-overview.md).
* **Directory Prioritization** — control the order of directory profiles to highlight your most important offerings at the top of each page.
* **Redesigned home page** — an aggregated page that highlights signature experiences such as events, spa, dining, and club benefits in one place.
* **Face ID login** — members can log in with Face ID on the mobile app: secure, passwordless entry. For operators, this means fewer password-reset requests.
* **Streamlined booking and checkout** — fewer steps and clearer messaging, including waitlist visibility on sold-out events, on-sale dates for future ticket releases, and a simplified $0 checkout. In regions without a supported payment processor, members can transact using a **House Account** option at checkout.

To check whether your club is on Member Portal 3.0, contact Support or your Account Manager.

> **Note**: Beyond Terms & Conditions and Privacy, the member-facing content of the portal is driven by **Directory Profiles**, **Events**, and **Blog Posts** — not by standalone managed pages. If you need an additional portal page set up, contact Support or your Account Manager.

### What only Peoplevine can change

Some settings live behind the platform and require a request to your Account Manager or Support. The most relevant ones for portal experience are:

For the full list of operator-requested settings, see: [Admin Settings Managed by Peoplevine](/products/portal-overview/portal-admin-settings.md).

### Who can log in

Portal access depends on membership status, evaluated in priority order at every login: **Failed → Active → Pending → Suspended → Cancelled → Expired**. Failed memberships always show the Failed Dues Paywall (overrides everything). Active members get the full portal. Other statuses see informational paywalls explaining the next step.

For the full priority logic, see: [How Members Get Access to the Portal](/products/portal-overview/member-portal-access.md).

### What Happens Next

* **On the member side**: Members log in, see content and features tailored to their membership status, and can self-serve most account actions.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.peoplevine.com/products/portal-overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
