# How to View an Order's Associated Transaction

> **Order vs transaction**: An order is the itemized receipt of what was purchased and which services were redeemed. A transaction is the payment receipt for that order. One order can have multiple linked transactions when an original invoice was voided and reprocessed.

### Before you begin (Prerequisites)

* **Permissions**: You must be an **Administrator**, **Supervisor**, **Manager**, **Support**, or **Account Rep**. See: [How to Manage Users and Permissions](/products/control-panel-overview/admin-overview/manage-roles-permissions.md).

### Instructions

1. Navigate to [**SELL > View Orders**](https://control.peoplevine.com/orders).

   > **Note (Pro Dash):** Navigate to **Sell > Ecommerce > Order History**.
2. Click **VIEW** on the order row to open the order receipt.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the order. Underneath the itemization, a line reads **"The following payments were made on this order."** with a bulleted list of linked transactions below it.
4. Click the transaction reference link — it shows in the format: `#[Transaction #] - [payment method] - [status] - $[amount] - [date]`. You will usually see one transaction with status **Processed**. If the order was originally invoiced, then voided and reprocessed, each of those transactions appears in the list.
5. The transaction record opens on its detail page — you are now on the Transaction Details page in [**SELL > View Transactions**](https://control.peoplevine.com/transactions) for that specific transaction.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.peoplevine.com/products/control-panel-overview/transactions-overview/view-order-transaction.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
