# How to Run a Customer Spend Report

The Customer Spend Report shows how much each customer has spent across the different revenue streams in Peoplevine: subscriptions, commerce, events, scheduling, applications, charity, gift cards, and other revenue. The report includes everyone in your CRM, including non-members. Use it to identify top spenders, spot low-engagement customers, or review spend by membership program.

### Before you begin (Prerequisites)

* **Permissions**: You must be an **Administrator**, **Supervisor**, or **Support**. See: [How to Manage Users and Permissions](/products/control-panel-overview/admin-overview/manage-roles-permissions.md).
* **Data availability**: Transaction records must exist in the system for the date range you want to analyse.

### Instructions

1. Navigate to [**CRM > Customer Spend Report**](https://control.peoplevine.com/customer/spend/report).

> **Note (Pro Dash):** Navigate to **CRM > Reports > Customer Spend Report**.

2. Set filters to narrow the results:
   * **Date range** -- enter a start date and end date (mm/dd/yyyy format).
   * **Search** -- type a name to find a specific customer.
   * **Sort by** -- select a sort option from the dropdown. Options include By Name, By Company, or By Most/Least spend across each revenue stream (Total Spend, Schedule Spend, Application Spend, Event Spend, Charity Spend, Subscription Spend, Giftcard Spend, Commerce Spend, Other Spend). The default sort is **By Most Total Spend**.
   * **Membership program** -- select a specific membership program from the dropdown, or leave it on **Show All** to include everyone.
   * **Member's Only** -- tick this checkbox to restrict the report to active members only.
3. Click **APPLY** to load the results.
4. Review the report. Each row shows a customer name with their spend broken down by revenue stream. Click a customer name to open their CRM profile.
5. To download the data, click **EXPORT**.

### Best Practice

Use the sort options to quickly answer specific questions -- for example, select **By Most Subscription Spend** to identify customers with the highest recurring revenue, or **By Least Total Spend** to find low-engagement customers who may benefit from outreach.

### What Happens Next

* **On the reporting side**: Results display on screen. The export downloads the data for use in Excel or Google Sheets.
* **Next step**: To view the full transaction detail behind a customer's spend, click **VIEW ALL TRANSACTIONS** at the top of the report to open the transaction listing. For a broader revenue analysis by date, category, or payment method, see: [How to Run a Standard Report](/products/control-panel-overview/reports-overview/run-standard-report.md) and use the Transaction Pivot Reports.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.peoplevine.com/products/control-panel-overview/reports-overview/run-customer-spend-report.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
