# How to Change the Customer on an Invoice

### Before you begin (Prerequisites)

* **Permissions**: You must be an **Administrator**, **Supervisor**, or **Support**. See: [How to Manage Users and Permissions](/products/control-panel-overview/admin-overview/manage-roles-permissions.md).
* **Transaction exists**: The invoice or transaction must already exist under [**SELL > View Transactions**](https://control.peoplevine.com/transactions).

### Instructions

1. Navigate to [**SELL > View Transactions**](https://control.peoplevine.com/transactions).

> **Note (Pro Dash):** Navigate to **SELL > Transactions > View Transactions**.

> Alternatively, if you know who the invoice is currently assigned to, navigate to their CRM profile, find the open invoice, and change the customer from there.

2. Find the transaction you want to reassign. Use the search or filter by status (e.g., **Invoiced**).
3. Click to open the transaction detail page.
4. Click **Change Person** (in parentheses next to the customer name). This link only appears on **invoiced** transactions — it is not available on refunded or voided transactions.
5. Search for the correct customer by name or email.
6. Select the customer to reassign the invoice.

### What Happens Next

* **On the system side**: The transaction is now linked to the new customer's profile. It appears in their transaction history and, if invoiced, will be collected from the new customer during the next invoice sweep.
* **Next step**: If an associated order also needs to be reassigned, see: [How to Change the Customer on an Order](/products/control-panel-overview/refunds-adjustments-overview/change-customer-on-order.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.peoplevine.com/products/control-panel-overview/invoices-house-account-overview/change-customer-on-invoice.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
