# How to Copy a Form

### Before you begin (Prerequisites)

* **Permissions**: You must be an **Administrator**, **Supervisor**, **Manager**, **Support**, or **Account Rep**. See: [How to Manage Users and Permissions](/products/control-panel-overview/admin-overview/manage-roles-permissions.md).
* **Existing Form**: At least one form must already exist. See: [How to Create a Form](/products/control-panel-overview/forms-overview/create-form.md).

### Instructions

1. Navigate to [**ENGAGE > Survey & Forms > Manage Forms**](https://control.peoplevine.com/surveys).
2. Locate the form you want to duplicate and click the **Menu** button (blue) to open its Form Detail page.
3. Click **COPY**.
4. The system creates a duplicate and opens the edit page directly.
5. Update the **Form Name** to distinguish it from the original.
6. Review and modify questions or settings as needed. See: [How to Edit and Reorder Form Questions](/products/control-panel-overview/forms-overview/edit-form-questions.md).
7. Click **Update Form**.

> **Note**: Copying a form duplicates the structure and questions only — it does not copy existing responses. The new form starts with zero submissions.

### Best Practice

Use the copy feature when creating seasonal or event-specific variants of an existing form. This ensures consistency in question structure while allowing you to tailor details for the specific use case.

### What Happens Next

* **On the system side**: The copied form exists as an independent form. Changes to the copy do not affect the original, and vice versa.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.peoplevine.com/products/control-panel-overview/forms-overview/copy-form.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
