Using the data export engine and the power of excel, you can build out charts, reports and dashboards leveraging live data as it's generated in PeopleVine.

To get started, you will need to identify the data you will need to generate your report.  Once identified, you will need to first build the data export file.

Step 1: Build the Data Export File
Follow these steps to setup your data file:

  1. Go to Settings > Reports and Data > Reporting Dashboard

  2. Go to Build a Custom Report and select the data set you want to work with

3. Select the fields you want in your report, keeping in mind that personal info shouldn't be needed if you're building a chart or summary report.  Keep their info private!

4. You can filter the dates by using variables such as 3/1/2020 12:00 AM, 3/31/2020 11:59:59 PM, 2/1/2020 12:00 AM, 2/29/2020 11:59:59 PM to pull monthly based
reports.  Without filters, it may take some time for the data to load.

5. Then click Generate Report.

6. Once the report is generated, you need to save the report (as it will be needed to future access).

7.   If you go back to export data to file, you'll see the Last Month's Transactions report.
8.  Click on the report and click load.  You will now see a URL where to get the data from.

Load the Data in Excel and Keep it Refreshed
Now that you have the URL of your report, you can setup an import in excel.

  1.  Start by opening up excel and creating a new workbook.

  2. Go to the Data tab and choose import data from web.

  3. Past the URL that you got in the steps above.

   4.  Feel free to clean up the data or confirm the settings that were loaded.

   5.  Then click load.

   6.  Your data will be loaded for you to generate your charts.

Based on the report URL provided and the {@ filters, you can re-load this data each month.  You can keep the data updated by clicking on the data and clicking on the Refresh data option.
